The joys of raising the twins

Lately the twins have been doing more and more. They love to kiss their big sister now. They walk up doing the smoochy face. You can tell they really lover Kailenn. Danica has been cuddling with Kailenn a lot as well. It seems whenever the cute moments happen the camera isn't around and you can't move. Darn. I can't say it enough, I really love all my girls.

We are hoping to get out to the park tomorrow since its supposed to be 60 degrees. It has been a rainy mess lately. I think all of us have been feeling a bit stressed lately. We are having major issues in this home front and hopefully things will start to work themselves out here soon. Anyways. Easter is this next weekend and we don't have anything planned. No family has mentioned any of the usual plans. Needless to say I have no idea what we are doing.

Thought I would share how we did bath time last night. It's been a long time since we have put them into the sink. I think they are a little big. So fun photo comparison time.

Sometimes you just can't win

Why for the love of God why have my children been sick almost constantly since September?! They just can't catch a break it's just one thing after another. It's not even just them even I have been sick a bunch this year. My dad came to visit for my birthday and walked out with pneumonia. He is still sick and my birthday was Feb. 27th and he was here on the 25th I believe. Ugh. I have gone through and cleaned all the surfaces and scrubbed and scrubbed. I am convinced there is some disease that is living in my home and it is not going to go away until summer comes. I am so ready for summer.

Every bit of sunshine we have gotten I have tried to take the kids outdoors to get some good ole vitamin D. The twins are really starting to be able to do more and Kailenn has been working on riding her bike without training wheels. Let's just say that's not going so well, but if anyone knows my daughter they would understand why. We spent the last couple of days doing some baking. Which I don't do very often. We made homemade whole wheat pretzels that were wonderful then yesterday we made coconut oatmeal cookies that could have used more chocolate chips and I forget what Matt said.

An update on what the kids are now doing.
Kailenn is reading books on her own. She still needs help with the big words but has it down. We have been practicing soccer and she is getting better at kicking the ball.
Hailey is starting to do her nose scrunch thing when she smiles that is making me smile every time.
Danica is going around the house giving everything kisses. If she isn't biting EVERYTHING. I say everything because she has tried to bite the floor. Only Danica would do such a silly thing.
We recently had to take all the dvd's out of the living room. They would literally walk up to the shelf and start dumping them all over the floor. They did this approximately 20 times a day. So now as a punishment to mommy they dump all of their toy boxes out 20 times a day. Sometimes you just can't win.

This post was kinda all over the place but that is how my mind has been lately so enjoy putting it together in your head.

Kindergarten

Dear Kailenn,
Today is your first day of Kindergarten. I can't believe it's finally that time. I have loved watching you delight in every new milestone and accomplishment you have achieved and this is just another one of those. I still remember all your first's like they happened only yesterday. I remember the first steps you took and of course the first time you said "mama". God blessed me with you a bit sooner than expected but that's ok. We have grown together through these nearly six years. I look forward to many more firsts. Including the day you graduate from high school. The day you graduate college, your first love. The greatest joy will be watching you some day write a letter just like this one to your very own daughter. I love you Kailenn and I thank the Lord everyday for such a wonderful daughter you are. Have a great first day of school.

Love,
Mommy

Daddy come back

Matt headed back to work this morning and no one in the house was happy. As sad it is to see him leave I know he is doing it for his family. Today has been a mess from the start. I think the littlest ones in the house are getting sick. Hailey screamed the entire night as did Danica as well. Danica also woke up with a fever, great! All I can say is if these kids get sick I don't know what I am going to do.
On a good note! Kailenn has kindergarten orientation tomorrow evening. Oh boy are we excited for back to school. Although we will never get there if the twins are indeed getting sick.
Yesterday we picked up an older kitten and she is just the sweetest. While I am typing this she is laying in my lap. Jasmine won't do that. She fits so well into our hectic house. All of the girls are enjoying her too, especially the no scratching part. Jasmine has really gotten bad with scratching the kids. The only thing we are not too excited about is toilet training another cat. Eek that was not a fun process to go through, but as we know totally worth it. My biggest reason for toilet training our cats is I hate cat litter and litter boxes. This shall be the most exciting 3 weeks ever with Matthew being gone. Matthew we need you more than you'll ever know. I've come to realize that in the almost 3 years of marriage it's really hard to be alone anymore. We love you daddy!

"No Poo"

Well here it is, I haven't "shampood my hair in 10 days. Yes you heard me 10 days. I have on the other hand washed my hair. I am trying something new to help with my itchy scalp. I have to say so far it's going GREAT! My hair is soft, shiny and the best thing it's not itchy any more. I am choosing to do this because of the harsh chemicals in shampoo and how it strips your hair of the natural oils that cleanse it. Using shampoo of sets the natural balance of oils and causes your body to make more oil thus making it harder to go longer without shampooing your hair. There is also the inexpensive reason to do it. It just doesn't cost much!

Here is how I do it:
The wash is made up of baking soda and water. I take one cup of warm water to 1 tblsp baking soda. Mix it up till it dissolves. Then for the conditioner I use the vinegar. I like to use both white and apple cider. I do one cup of water and mix in 1tbsp of apple cider vinegar and 1 tbsp white.
If you prefer a smell add a few drops of essential oil, honey, or lemon juice to the vinegar mixture. Do not worry once your hair is rinsed and dryed you will not smell the vinegar.

When you get in the shower get your hair wet just like you would if you were showering. Then proceed with pouring the baking soda mixture in your hair. Rub it in real well and focus on rubbing the scalp, working it into the ends. Now it wont lather like shampoo but trust me your hair is getting clean. Leave the mixture on your hair for a bit while you wash something else. Come back and rinse it all out real well. After you've rinsed pour the vinegar on your hair and do the same. I like to leave it on a bit longer than the baking soda! After you've let it sit, rinse and your done.

I hope others try this out as I think it is very beneficial to your health. :) Happy hair cleaning.

Daddy we miss you

It's been 10 days since Matt left to work. He is doing an extra harvest season this year. Though we need the money, we sure do miss the man in our life. Our house is full of tears and frustration. Its not easy taking care of 3 children all by yourself not to mention twins. The babies began teething the day Matt left. Their top two teeth are coming in and are not making things easy. Their constant crying coupled with Kailenn acting out is making this momma a worn out one. Teething isn't the only thing going on in our lives right now. Kailenn is going to be starting kindergarten on Sept. 6th. This is such an exciting time for her right now. We spent yesterday with my mom shopping. I have to say it was very nice having someone else with me so I could have someone to talk to. We spent way more time then I had planned on, but it was completely worth it. Kailenn got to pick out her backpack and a matching notebook to go with it. It was a painstaking process choosing the right one. She finally decided on iCarly. I have a feeling Matt's exact words are going to be "oh brother". I guess we will just have to wait and see!

I haven't been writing on my blog like I said I would. I just don't think about it anymore. I am done for the night though and will say good bye so I can put the babies to bed. Good night internet!

Naked baby

I took Danica's diaper off for a little air drying. I guess that was the perfect time for her to climb up the couch and look out the window. It was hilarious! Not only was she naked she was banging on the window almost trying to get people's attention. I decided it was the perfect momment for the embarrasing photo for later in life. Here it is my little naky Danica.
